Doris Goodman, age 83, of Monett, MO died on Monday, April 09, 2012, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO. She was born July 28, 1928, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Claude and Pearl (Ashlock) Neely. She graduated from Monett High School & Monett Junior College. She married Leonard Goodman in Monett, on September 9, 1951. He preceded her in death in 2008. Mrs. Goodman and her husband lived in the Jolly Mill area for 30 years running a dairy farm in what is now the Capps Creek Conservation Area. She was active in the Merrymakers Extension Club in Newton County. Mrs. Goodman worked at First National Bank of Pierce City and Monett. She also worked at banks in Memphis and Oklahoma City. She served as treasurer of the Lawrence County Baptist Association and the First Baptist Church of Pierce City, where she was a long-time member. Mrs. Goodman loved to travel and, above all, loved people. She rarely forgot a name or a face, and made everyone around her feel welcomed and special. She shared her warmth and energy generously. She will be missed by her many friends and family. Mrs. Goodman is survived by her son, Craig Goodman of San Francisco, CA; her brother, Gerry Neely and his wife Betty of Austin, TX; and her nephew, Kevin Neely of San Francisco, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Russ Neely. The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Friday, April 13, 2012, from 7:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, April 14, 2012, beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Justin L. Guffey officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.
