William Arthur Carr

December 7, 1935 - March 4, 2017

Anaheim, California- William Arthur Carr, 81, died Saturday, March 4th, 2017, after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He leaves his wife of over 50 years, Margaret Cummins Carr of Pierce City, Missouri and their daughter, Suzanne Carr Walker, along with her husband, Tim, and two grandchildren. William “Bill” Carr was born and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts. After he served in the Air Force, he moved to the midwest to complete his college education and become a teacher. It is the midwest where he met Margaret Cummins of Pierce City, Missouri. The pair then married and moved out to California where they both became teachers, bought a home, and settled for the remainder of their careers. Bill and Margaret were lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel the world many times over. They also made frequent trips back to Missouri to visit Margaret’s extended family. After retirement they purchased and placed a cabin on the property where Margaret and her sister, Rachel Cummins Frazier grew up. Bill was a fabulous teacher teaching mostly 6th grade for 35+ years. He was known for his quirky personality, athletic games and his Christmas play- “The Christmas Carol”. He kept up an active lifestyle playing full court basketball well into his late 60’s and golf up until a couple of years ago. He regularly attended the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, California. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Jolly Bethel Cemetery under the direction and care of Lakin Funeral Home.
