James Edward Pierce

March 23, 1929 - September 28, 2020

James Edward Pierce, age 91, of Pierce City, MO passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Mt. Vernon Veteran's Home in Mount Vernon, MO. He was born in Floral, KS on Saturday, March 23, 1929. He was the son of William Franklin and Helen Beatrice (Moore) Pierce. Mr. Pierce attended school in Leon, KS. He was a member of the Army (1950-1952) where he was a medic and served during the Korean War. He was married to Lorene Rosewicz on Saturday, May 16, 1953 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield, MO. Mr. Pierce spent many years as a truck driver where he explored much of the country. He enjoyed teaching his boys to fish and also sitting on the porch watching deer and turkey in the yard. Mr. Pierce was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield, MO and the El Dorado, KS VFW Post #1174. Surviving are the following: his wife, Lorene of the home; two sons, Jim (Pam) Pierce of El Dorado, KS and Joe (Mary) Pierce of Wichita, KS; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Pierce; and two sisters Wileva Vaughn and Wanda Wimberly. The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Thursday, October 01, 2020 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Graveside services, with Military Honors, will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Pulaskifield, MO on Thursday, October 01, 2020 beginning at 11:30 AM with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
